Look who is TWO!!

Mom decorated the kitchen, Daddy brought home balloons, Kirk and Ruby put on party hats and it was time for the celebration to begin! Hannah is in West Yellowstone, learning to fly fish with Grandpa...we miss you Hannah and know you are having a BLAST!
I attempted to make an ELMO cake, but it has been a while since I decorated a cake...so this is was the very sad finished product! Oh well, John loved it! He blew out his candles and thought that was pretty darn cool! What a big boy!!I LOVED watching him try to get that second candle! After poisoning the family with an overload of red dye #40, we moved on to open John's presents! (well the ones that he didn't get to earlier!! He opened three presents early in the morning...just couldn't wait for Daddy to come home!) He has watched everybody else have birthdays this summer, so he knew just what to do!
Opening the presents was much more fun than actually seeing what was inside!
This is one Happy Birthday boy!
Ruby helped John talk to his "fans" calling from all across the United States, to wish him a Happy Birthday!
The Barbers, as well as Megan Bramble, came over to sing to John! He loved it!
John was very sad when the party ended, he wanted to celebrate ALL NIGHT!
I went to bed wondering if we are going to suffer through the "TERRIBLE TWOS" or sail through "TERRIFIC TWOS!!" I think I know the answer and I couldn't fall asleep!! Heaven help us!

Back to School 2008

I can't believe Ruby is a FIRST GRADE GIRL!!
Here is her FAVORITE "back to school" outfit, she got it from Grammy and Grandpa for her birthday! THANKS GRAMMY & GRANDPA! Check out that Back pack!

Hannah, Kirk, John and I were all at the bus stop to see Ruby off! SHE LOVED IT!

Here is Ruby AFTER school, looks like she had a great day at Peregrine Elementary School! She is Mrs. McGrordy's class! What a lucky girl!

An evening at the Idaho State Fair

Friday Night was opening night for the Idaho State Fair, since Hannah was in AZ with Katherine, Darryl and Ada, we decided to take the rest of the YA-hoos out for an adventure! Who doesn't love a good fair? Great people watching, greasy food, carnies and animals covered with poop! WHAT IS NOT TO LOVE??
Ruby's first priority was to get her beautiful face painted! She chose a lovely butterfly, hot pink, of course! Then her lovely personal designer, chose this great hair-do! She looked awesome and got loads of attention, she loved it!
John and Kirk were just happy to be there! We filled our bellies with a typical fair dinner (grease and grime), and then we were off to explore the fairgrounds! None of us had ever seen a horse race before, so of course we had to watch! Mom and Dad wanted to check it out, it was fun! Dad and John were most impressed! Kirk was dying to check out the jeeps on the 4X4 course and Ruby wanted to feed the animals in the petting zoo, but they politely waited for the eternally long (60 second) horse race to end. While Dad and Kirk hit the manly 4X4 demonstration, I took Ruby and John to the petting zoo, I thought John would love it and he did... until the goats got too close, then the tucked up his legs, arms and toes and SCREAMED!
After that, we quickly said hello to each animal (while holding our legs and all 10 toes) and went about our business! Ruby was not pleased, but she was a trooper! After checking out all the booths and exhibits, and really seeing all that there was to see, we passed a mechanical bull ride. Kirk looked mildly interested so we stopped to check it out. He studied two riders and then was ready to go! The National Bull Riders Association might bust down our door, KIRK WAS AWESOME!! CHECK HIM OUT!!
He even waved his hat in the air! GO KIRKIE!!
To end our evening, Ruby went on a pony ride, poor John was so traumatized from the feeding/petting area, he just barely would peak out of his stroller. Sorry John, hope you will forgive me!
