Ruby (and Austin's) Big Day!

Our day started with a fun surprise...Kirk was in the Idaho Statesman. Kirk and Ruby competed in the Boise Valley Swim Team Championships Friday and Saturday. There were over 800 kids competing, ages 5-18. A photographer approached him on Saturday and asked him for his name and age and what team he was with. I didn't want him to get his hopes up, I figured the guy had hundreds of photos. Kirk ended up being the only one in the paper! FRONT PAGE OF THE SPORTS SECTION BAY-BAY!! Side note: Kirk was most excited about being featured on the same page as Ian Johnson, a former BSU Football player! So funny!
Here is the picture from the paper!! I LOVE IT!
WAY TO GO KIRKIE!! GREAT PICTURE!!
We have the EARLY block at church, 8:30am! So we madly opened gifts and ate breakfast and dashed out the door...
Ruby got some birthday money, new clothes, a book, a DVD, a CD, a new pool floatie, snow cone machine and all the fixin's for it! That will be fun at her birthday party!
SWEET Bow-Tie! So handsome!
What a cutie! Happy Birthday sweet girl!
This is what our backyard looked like as we got ready for Austin's Missionary Open House.
READY FOR A PAR-TAY!!
The Birthday GIRL and her Mom
These are our dear friends, Sean and Dini (with Austin) and Dini's darling parents, Mary and Reuben Rodriguez.
Here is Elder Moorhouse greeting some of his many supporters! :)
Austin and his sisters, Mazie, Reubie and Tatum
What a crazy day...we had to fit in RUBY'S BIRTHDAY CAKE...didn't get to it until 9:30pm!
Everyone looked exhausted but it was still fun! Nothing like eating chocolate cake right before bed!
Kirkie went back to Utah with Dini's parents and brother. He is spending the week with our Dallas cousins who are in Utah with my in-laws and Tiffany's parents. He should have a ball, but we are missing him!!
Yes, this is THAT famous Fairbanks Family Cake that Rich grew up on...my kids LOVE it!

Dear Ruby,
I absolutely love being your mother. Every day truly is a new adventure with you! You are funny, beautiful, smart, sweet, thoughtful, kind, energetic, friendly and fun! I love that you can make friends no matter where you are or what you are doing. I love that you and John are bestest friends. You are such a fabulous big sister and a thoughtful little sister. You are the peacemaker in our home. You look out for your friends and make sure they are happy. You play the piano beautifully and swim like a champion! I am so proud of you and LOVE YOU VERY, VERY, VERY MUCH!

Ruby's 7th Birthday Celebration...or another excuse to embarrass my kids!

Ruby's birthday fell on a Sunday this year and not just any Sunday...it fell on the Sunday that our good friends, the Moorhouse's oldest son Austin, who is getting ready to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guatemala, was scheduled to have his Missionary Farewell in our ward. They wanted to have an open house for him with their friends and family but their home is under construction, so we offered our home and yard to them. Rich was also asked to speak with Austin, which he was tickled to do, so that added to our fun...anyway, Ruby graciously shared her day with Austin. We knew the day would be crazy, so we started celebrating Ruby's day Saturday night...at our children's favorite place, RED ROBIN! It started just like any other night but then things got a little crazy... Ruby, Daddy-O & Hannah
Kirk, John & Mom
We were all struck with the giggles...that is not always a good thing! Just look what happened...
And it only got worse...we offer a sincere apology to all the Red Robin patrons and employees on July 25th 2009.
Hannah was so embarrassed and fought the urge, but then she couldn't resist and had to join in!
Oh you can't have a birthday without the RED ROBIN SINGERS and a SUNDAE! (according to the Fairbanks children)
This is what happened when I sent the wild ones up to brush their teeth and get ready for bed!
BEWARE!!
An ice cream sundae late at night can only lead to one thing...COMPLETE GOOFINESS!!
Ruby and John had the biggest giggle fest I have ever heard! THANK YOU RED ROBIN!

Twin Falls Summer Heat Swim Meet-July 11th 2009

Check out this sweet pool. Hannah had a swim meet in Twin Falls a couple of weeks ago and Rich suggested that just Hanny and I go...HOW FUN IS THAT? He got us a reservation at a hotel and we were off. It was such a treat, we left right at 5pm on Friday night and got home about the same time on Saturday. It was fun to have some GIRL time. We went out to dinner...FOUND A CAFE RIO done there...weird! (We don't have one in Boise) Afterwards we did some shopping for the meet. Hannah is the funniest girl, she makes me giggle...A LOT! We headed over at 7:00am Saturday morning to reserve some room for our team. There were 16 kids from our little team swimming at this meet. It was a lot of fun! Here is Hannah waiting for the big event to start. Doesn't she look thrilled? GO STREAMLINERS!! I LOVE this picture of Hannah warming up...click on the picture and check out the swimmer behind her...SO FUNNY!
Thank goodness for lane lines..this could've been a collision!
Even during warm-ups, Hannah is a complete goof.
EECK, a cap malfunction.
Here are two of Hannah's pals, Casslyn and Brianna, her coaches kids, aren't they ADORABLE? They kept us entertained all the live long day.
I love this picture too...Hannah is getting a little "direction" from one of her coaches.
ha ha
Waiting for her heat...
GO HANNAH!!! I love to watch her swim!
Hannah is so sweet to the little people. Landon cuddled right up to her.
Another action shot
This is Hannah's coach Matt, he and his wife are amazing, they both coach this team. (what lucky kids) Here he is talking to her AFTER one of her events. (she is trying to catch her breath) He explains everything so well. He is awesome!
Breast stroke, Hannah's favorite!
Hannah did WELL at this meet, it was fun to watch her. I LOVE YOU HANNY-HOO.
We had a GREAT time together, THANKS DADDY-O for letting us do this together. (And for holding down the fort while I was away!!)
XOXOXOXOXO
